WHY DOES ENO FOCUS ON HIGH-END FINISHING MATERIALS?

When choosing a plancha, trolley or outdoor kitchen, the choice of material is essential. Durability, weather resistance, maintenance... there are many criteria to consider.

For over 100 years, ENO has been designing cookers and equipment for boats, installed on sailing boats and yachts around the world. The harsh conditions at sea have forged a requirement: to use only reliable, durable materials that are resistant to extreme corrosion.

What boating has taught ENO :

  1. The materials must be resistant :
    • salt
    • humidity
    • UV rays
    • repeated impacts
  2. The surfaces must be easy to clean and last for years.
  3. They must remain in pristine condition despite intensive use.

ENO therefore applies the same rigorous standards to its range of planchas and outdoor kitchens as it does to its marine equipment. This explains its choice of two families of premium materials :

  • powder-coated galvanised steel, a robust and highly protective alloy
  • stainless steel (with several finishes adapted to different environments)

Thermally painted galvanised steel, a robust and stable material

acier galvanise thermolaque

Galvanised steel is steel protected by a layer of zinc, then coated with a powder coating (baked powder paint).

ENO uses two levels of protection :

  • double powder coating
  • triple powder coating (reinforced protection)

Double protection galvanised steel

Galvanised steel with a double layer of powder coating offers double protection against corrosion and impact. The zinc protects the steel from oxidation, and the powder coating forms a durable barrier against moisture, UV rays and impact.

This material has a fine texture finish, is visually appealing and perfectly suited to outdoor environments :

ACHILLE trolley

Attractive surface thanks to its fine texture. This finish hides minor signs of wear and tear and keeps the surface looking impeccable.
Easy to maintain : all you need is a microfibre cloth and mild detergent

Triple protection galvanised steel

The triple-layer version goes even further: a triple anti-corrosion barrier, ideal for users located in humid or coastal areas.

The steel is galvanised using a zinc-based hot-dip treatment that protects it against corrosion. The application of an epoxy primer coat followed by a coat of fine-texture polyester paint by powder coating enhances durability and resistance to scratches and impacts.

Stainless steel, the ultimate corrosion-resistant material

inox

Thanks to its long-standing expertise in the nautical industry, ENO has developed a true mastery of demanding environments and selects high-end materials renowned for their reliability, such as stainless steel.

In this article, we take a look at the three stainless steel finishes used by ENO and the technical reasons behind their selection. Here are the three stainless steel finishes used by ENO for its products.

Marine-grade stainless steel, "polished" finish

Marine-grade stainless steel (304L) is used in the nautical industry worldwide.

The "gloss" finish provides natural resistance to salt corrosion, one of the most destructive environments for metals, unlike the brushed finish used by many manufacturers of stainless steel planchas, which does not pass the salt spray test.

All ENO stainless steel products are tested for 500 hours in a salt spray chamber to ensure the best possible corrosion resistance.

Advantage(s) of a gloss finish Products concerned
Smooth, shiny surface

Boating: ovens, cookers, hobs, stoves, planchas

Griddles : ENOSIGN / BERGERAC

MOBILOT trolley

Quick cleaning
Unrivalled corrosion resistance
Easy maintenance with a microfibre cloth

Marine-grade stainless steel with a "textured matt" finish.

The perfect combination of robustness and contemporary style !

Also derived from the marine world, this 304L stainless steel has a fine matt texture that further improves its mechanical resistance.

Advantages of the textured matt finish Products concerned
Highly scratch resistant Outdoor kitchens in sage or navy : worktop, splashback
Fingerprints less visible
Modern, professional finish
Perfect for humid and salty environments

Outdoor stainless steel with a "glossy" finish

The durable alternative for standard outdoor use.

For gardens and terraces not exposed to sea salt, ENO uses a glossy stainless steel specifically designed for outdoor use. This stainless steel is widely used for roofing and street furniture.

Ideal for intensive, year-round outdoor use, this stainless steel successfully passes the 500-hour salt spray test.

Advantages of the gloss finish Product(s) concerned
High-end glossy appearance

Griddles : INITIAL, FUSION

Griddle trolleys : ACHILLE, FELIX, OSCAR

Good weather resistance
Easy to clean
Perfect for outdoor use
