Tuna Tataki

Preparation: 5 minutes
Marinade: 30 minutes
Cooking: 5 minutes

 

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons sesame olive oil
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 tuna steaks
  • Sesame seeds
  • 1 scallion

 

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the sesame oil, grated ginger, lemon juice, and soy sauce.
  2. Add the tuna steaks and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat the grill or plancha to high heat and cook the tuna steaks for a few minutes per side, just until seared on the outside and rare in the center.
  4. Slice the tuna into thin strips and serve with the marinade as a sauce, sprinkled with sesame seeds and chopped scallion.

Tips:

  • For a more authentic flavor, use Japanese soy sauce.
  • Serve the tataki with your favorite sushi sides, such as pickled ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce.
