How should I winterise my Eno plancha and how should I store it?

This is a question that comes up every year after the sunny days are over.

If you don't plan on using your plancha or plancha trolley during the winter months, here are a few precautions to take so that you can easily reuse your appliance and its stand in the spring.

1. Clean your plancha

Before storing your plancha for the winter, it is important to check that it is clean. This will help you avoid any unpleasant surprises when you start using it again next time.

Plancha maintenance : to maintain your gas or electric plancha, you can clean it before storing it for the winter. Use the Plancha Cleaner, stainless steel ball and microfibre cloth to clean the plate.

Our special plancha cleaning tutorial will give you all the steps to follow for a complete and effective clean.

To thoroughly clean the trolley or lid, simply wipe with a soft cloth and clean water. Use soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge or soft cloth to remove dirt, dust and pollen. Then rinse with clean water and dry with a microfibre cloth.

2. Remove the battery from the plancha's electronic ignition

To prevent the battery from becoming defective during a long period of non-use of your plancha, it is recommended that you remove it from its housing.

Depending on the model of gas plancha with electronic ignition, the battery is located in a fixed compartment :

  • either at the front,
  • or at the rear,
  • or under the chassis.

If the battery holder is attached under the chassis of the plancha, you will need to remove the cast iron plate (and the cover if your plancha has one) and turn the chassis over.

To remove the battery from its holder, simply unscrew the black plastic cap. The battery is held in place by a spring, so be careful not to lose it. It is essential for the battery to function properly in the case. See description HERE.

The next time you use it, remember to put the battery back in...

3.Turn off the gas supply (gas plancha) or unplug the electrical socket (electric plancha).

For added safety, it is recommended that you turn off the gas supply when not using your appliance. For electric planchas, simply unplug the socket.

4. Protect your plancha and trolley from the elements

To protect your plancha and trolley/serving trolley from the elements, we offer several solutions: a cover, a pop-up cover or simply storing the plancha in a sheltered place (awning, garage, etc.).

1.Cover your plancha with a lid

We have protective lids for every type of plancha. If you do not have a lid, you can purchase one from your retailer, who will advise you based on your plancha model. You will need to provide them with the plancha's serial number (sticker on the plancha frame). Ideally, take a photo to avoid any mistakes!

2.Cover your plancha a cover

We have covers suitable for every model of ENO gas and electric plancha. The cover will protect the plate and frame of your appliance.

Our plancha covers are equipped with a pop-up system to allow rainwater to drain away.

However, leaves and snails can dirty your plancha, and cleaning will be necessary before the next use.

3.How should you store and protect your plancha when not in use?

To keep your plancha and trolley really clean and avoid leaves, dirt, snails, etc., we recommend storing your plancha under a canopy, in a garage or any other enclosed space protected from the wind and humidity.

The same applies to your trolley. By following these steps, it will be easier to get your plancha back up and running after a long period of non-use.
